Essay Contest
Questions and Answers Page
Thank you for your interest and questions!
Question 1: What information
about the authors of the published essays will be publicly disclosed?
Answer: Our objective is to motivate students to understand
the creation/evolution issue better, and not necessarily make them martyrs for
the global flood/recent creation view of earth history. We understand that the
persecution for holding the biblical view of earth history is becoming
increasingly real. Therefore, we will provide the option for the student to be
listed by their first name and the city they are from if they do not want their
full name published on our website or via newspaper listings of the winners
(you will be contacted before we publish the winners concerning which option
you prefer). This will hide these students from Internet searches on their
name revealing their views on this issue. After all, we know of some leading
creationists who were able to obtain their credentialed degree by keeping their
mouth shut until after they had completed their degrees. However, we do not
want to do the essay contest in secret either. Full disclosure of essay
contest winners will be available upon a valid written request.
Question 2: You say that “all references must be properly
documented in the essay.” What does that mean? Do you want a specific style
such as APA or MLA? Do you want a bibliography?
Answer: Any standard format for references will do.
However, MLA would be best. We’re most familiar with that. MLA
requires a "Works Cited" page.
